Moving Carbonite Safe to Another Computer (Mac 1x)

You can move your Carbonite subscription to a new or repaired computer by signing into your Carbonite account and installing the Carbonite Safe software with the instructions below.

Sign In

  1. Click Move my Subscription from the Computer options drop-down menu.
    Carbonite Safe Portal: From the Computer options menu, click Move my Subscription
  2. Choose the option that best fits your scenario.
    • Move my subscription and start a new backup – This will install Carbonite on your new or repaired computer and you can select files for backup.
    • Move my subscription and transfer my files – This will install Carbonite on your new or repaired computer and walk you through restoring all of your files.
  3. Click Download now to download the Carbonite installation file.
  4. Once Carbonite downloads, click Run on your web browser or double-click the CarboniteSetup file to install Carbonite.

Moving Carbonite subscription to another computer will disable Carbonite on original computer.

A window will prompt you to transfer your subscription and restore your files. Click Yes to continue with the installation.

Your Carbonite subscription is currentlyinstalled on a different computer. Do you want to transfer your subscriptionand restore files to this computer.

After the installation completes, you will have the following options:

Once you have all of the files you need, you can exit Recover Mode to resume backing up your files.

Exiting Recover Mode will remove non-restored files from Carbonite after 30 days.
