Reinstalling Carbonite Safe (Mac 1x)

You can reinstall Carbonite Safe on your existing Mac to update Carbonite to the latest version, fix common issues, and add improvements to the software.

First, sign into your Carbonite account at https://account.carbonite.com.

Sign In

Once signed in, select Computer options and click Reinstall Carbonite for the backup you wish to reinstall on this computer.

Carbonite Website: Click Reinstall

Click the Download now button to download the Carbonite setup file. Run the file when the download completes.

Double-click the Carbonite file to start the installation process.

You'll see an initial screen which will guide you through the install. All you need to do here is click Continue and follow along.

As you go through this process you'll then be walked through a step-by-step procedure where you'll be prompted agree to Carbonite's Terms of Service, select an install location, and have to type in the password you use to log into your Mac.

You'll eventually get a screen tells you that the installation was successful. This isn't the end of the installation yet. You'll see another Carbonite screen after that.

Carbonite will connect to your backup and complete the reinstall.

Your have successfully reinstalled Carbonite Online Backup on this computer.

After you reinstall, please configure Full Disk Access so Carbonite can back up your files. You can now add, remove, or restore files on your computer. You can also use Carbonite to determine the status of your backup.
