Reinstalling Carbonite Safe

You can reinstall Carbonite Safe on your existing computer to update Carbonite to the latest version, fix common issues, and add improvements to the software.

Step 1: Download Carbonite Safe

From the target computer, click the button below to download the Carbonite Safe installer.

Windows 7 and higher | For Carbonite Safe Basic, Plus and Prime plans

Step 2: Install Carbonite Safe

After the Carbonite file downloads, you can use your web browser or File Explorer to open the Carbonite setup file. Choose the method that is easiest for you.

From the Web Browser
  • For Google Chrome: Click the Carbonite setup file from the bottom left of the web browser.
  • For Mozilla Firefox: Click Save File and open the file from the down arrow in the top right of the web browser.
  • For Microsoft Edge: Click Run at the bottom of the web browser.
  • For Internet Explorer: Click Run at the bottom of the web browser.
From File Explorer
  1. Open File Explorer by pressing the Windows logo and “E” key on the keyboard at the same time.
    Windows Keyboard: Press the Windows Key and the E Key on your keyboard
  2. Within File Explorer, click Downloads.

  3. Double-click the Carbonite Setup file.
    File Explorer: Double-click the Carbonite setup file

If you see a User Account Control window that says, “Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?” click Yes.

Agree to Terms of Service and click OK and the reinstall will complete.
