Microsoft Ended Support For Windows XP

Microsoft ended Windows XP support on April 8, 2014. For more information, please visit http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/end-support-help. Microsoft discusses what options are available from upgrading your current PC to getting a new computer. There is also a third-party utility called PCmover Express by Laplink that can be used to migrate your data to a new or replacement computer with a newer operating system. It is recommended to follow Microsoft's instructions when upgrading and migrating your data to a new operating system. Alternatively, local external storage media can be used to migrate the data between computers.

If you have trouble migrating your data using the methods above, Carbonite can be used to migrate your data to the new operating system. Please note that Carbonite does not back up system files or programs (such as Microsoft Office, iTunes, etc.). Restoring data files with Carbonite will not reinstall any programs. Those programs need to be reinstalled manually before you can use their restored user data. Certain programs will also require you to manually import the data back into the program before you can continue using it. For example, you will need to import your restored emails and contacts back into Microsoft Outlook before Outlook will display them.

After restoring or migrating your files, you can use the resources below for guidance and assistance with importing your restored data back into the appropriate programs:
