Accessing Your Backup on an Android Device

  • This article is for Android only

You can use Carbonite Mobile to view and access the files that were backed up on your computers with the Carbonite software.

  1. To access your backed up files, tap Carbonite Mobile from your list of available apps.
  2. Tap on the computer that has the files you wish to view.
When you sign into the Carbonite Mobile app, a list of the computers will display. Tap on the computer that you wish to view or access files from.
  3. Navigate through the file path to find the desired file.
Tap through the folder structure to the file that you are looking for within the Carbonite Mobile app.
  4. Once you find the file, tap the file from the list.
Tap the file that you wish to view or access.
Tapping and holding the file from the list/thumbnail view allows you to save the file to your mobile device.

Once the file has been loaded, you will be able to view it through your device.

Tapping the file name previews the file within the Carbonite Mobile app, or prompt you to open in the appropriate application.
If you do not have an app on your phone that can view or edit the file, you will be unable to view the file.

While viewing the file, you can perform the following actions:

  • Share - This lets you share the file with an app installed on your mobile device (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Email , etc).
  • Navigation - This allows you to go to the previous or next images within the folder.
  • Properties - This displays information pertaining to the file, such as the name, size, when it was created, when it was backed up, and which computer it is backed up with.

If you have difficulty viewing or accessing your backed up files after following the steps above, please uninstall and reinstall Carbonite Mobile.
