Carbonite Safe and Carbonite Safe Backup Pro should not be used to back up the files that make up your database programs such as SQL, Exchange, or Microsoft Access. Files within a database are interconnected within a folder structure and Carbonite endpoint can only backup at a file level. This means when it comes to a recovery, endpoint is able to restore previous versions of files such as a Word document, but is unable to restore a previous version of a folder or the database. Given that endpoint is not designed to back up such databases, backing up and restoring a database using endpoint would make this information unusable when it is needed most.
