Restoring Between Mac and PC

You can transfer your Carbonite Safe subscription from Windows to Mac and vice versa. After this process completes, your previous computer’s backup will be deleted after 30 days.

Sign into your account at https://account.carbonite.com from the computer you wish to transfer Carbonite to.

From the Computer options drop down menu, click Move my Subscription for the appropriate computer's backup.

From the Computer options menu, select Move my Subscription option to download Carbonite.

A confirmation window will be displayed. Before proceeding with the transfer of the Carbonite subscription, you will have the option to Download files. If you do not need to download any files or have already done so, click Yes, I have what I need to proceed.

To confirm the deletion of your current backup, check the box that states "I understand that I am deleting my backup, which prevents me from accessing my files through Carbonite until they are backed up again." Click Delete my backup to complete the transfer.

Check I understand that I am deleting my backup, which prevents me from accessing my files through Carbonite until they are backed up again. Once you have agreed, click Delete my backup to confirm the deletion.
A notification will appear, stating the subscription for your previous computer is expired and will be kept for 30 days before it is permanently deleted. You will have the option to Renew now if you wish to keep the backup of the previous computer.

The newly released subscription will now be available. Click Install Now to start backing up your new computer.

Now that you have released your backup, click Install Now to install Carbonite on the new computer.

Click the Download now button to download the Carbonite setup file. When the download completes, click the file to run it.

Follow the on-screen instructions to finish installing Carbonite.

Once Carbonite is installed, Carbonite will scan the computer and perform the initial backup of your files. It will take some time before these updates can been through Anytime Anywhere Access.
